The workshop test without face value predates this hallmark. The nets of the Workshop proof frame are finely engraved. So the relief on the lower thread of the punch above was deliberately added. Why? To what end? The most practical way to obtain this relief was probably to hollow out the lower thread of the lead counter-type.

This punch is proof of a voluntary action by the engraver Delzers. The pleats under the belt buckle are those of Type I, IIB and IIA. The "C" of penny is retouched 

The hallmarks of the Musée de la Poste show a complex filiation to explain the birth of four types and one sub-type. The reasons will remain mysterious and unexplained, on the other hand the mechanism of filiation, it can be argued with method and a little logic (Thanks in part to the above)! -->See: tab: Four Types / Filiation...
